![]() Year 8 students with Mary Hooper: Eve Singleton, Bella Burbea, Amy Dean, Elia Lunt, Niamh Walker, Margot Clements, Anya Decmar, Katie Harris, Hattie Palmer-Coulson, Olivia Graham, Juno Norman. They were so keen on ‘Eliza Rose’ that Mary might be persuaded to write a sequel! The Year 8s have spent the past month reading a range of Mary’s books and enjoyed the opportunity to talk to her about their favourite characters, plots and settings. She then met 11 Year 8 students for a small, informal book group. Mary gave a fascinating talk to 60 Year 9 students about the process of writing a historical novel – from research to publication. At The Sign of the Sugared Plum was selected as part of the 2010 Booked Up scheme and Fallen Grace was nominated for the Carnegie Medal 2011. Her historical novels have a huge fan base, as do her contemporary novels for teenagers.
